Bred to adorn the laps of Chinese sovereigns during the Shang dynasty in East China, the Pug’s popularity spread to Tibet, where they were mainly kept by monks and then went onto Japan and finally Europe.

Pugs have a true sense of fun and are sociable dogs, stubborn, playful, charming and very intelligent and are known to succeed in dog obedience skills. The Pug has a short snout and compact breathing passageways, leaving many pugs unable to breath properly or efficiently.
